Claiming Back Class 2 NI

Options
Hi all,

I started Self Emplyoed around June this year and was paying my own Class 2 NI. I then got issued with a Certificate of Exception after i had allready paid some towards my NI.

Can i claim any of this back that i had paid before i got this Exception due to small earnings.

  • http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/incometax/claim-ni-conts.htm points to a page where HMRC covers this topic.

By the way, have you got a job where you pay Class 1 NI? I am asking because people who could claim exemption under the low earnings limit may choose to pay just to get something on their NI payments record.

  • Many thanks for the advice. I found the forms on the link you gave me and have posted them back to the tax office

  • I hope that you get the money soon.
