And we get others like this one, which apparently has been posted twice in error.

I cannot understand why the poster doesn't just delete the duplicate post?

Hint: click on 'edit', then click on 'delete'.

can i start a duplicate thread on duplicate threads as the trend has been set! :)

I think sometimes it's just impatience and people think by posting more than once they are more likely to get a quicker answer. It goes forgotten that the majority are offering their help and wisdom for nothing ..except maybe if we're lucky the use of the thanks button ;)

With the electrical downlighters thread it first came up as "need help on quote urgently" for example.

Sometimes it's just a genuine mistake like the case keithp highlights - perhaps unaware of being able to delete a post via the edit route.

    Hello Guys

This board has 2 board guides looking after it. If we spot a duplicate thread, we can remove it..........if it was posted in error or we can merge threads on a similar subject to help to keep the board tidy.

Threads that have been merged by a board guide usually have (merged threads) added to the thread title.;) I've lost count of the number of new threads I've merged with this thread for example:

Getting rid of rats/mice (merged threads)

I've been a member for quite a long time and I can remember the time when there were few new threads posted each day. The MSE site is massive now and there are so many posts and threads each day that it can be difficult for members to find and read previous threads on a similar subject.............hence why we can end up with duplicate threads.

If anyone spots a problem on the board, they can always send a private message to the board guide(s) to alert them. We board guides are volunteers and even if we were paid employees, we wouldn't be working (online) 24 hours a day.;)

I hope you all have a stress free and peaceful Christmas and a very Happy New Year.:xmassign:

    Regards
