leaky kettle 6 months old

I bought a Breville kettle 6 months ago. It cost me over £40 and it is now leaking. Do I contact Comet where I bought it from, or the manufacturer - for a replacement or money back?

Thanks.

Sally

    Hi Sally

My name's Phil and I'm from Comet.

I was sorry to note the problems that you are having with your kettle.

If you could possibly return it to your local store, they will need to test it and upon confirmation of the fault, they will arrange an exchange under your guarantee.

    Hope this helps

I cannot imagine any reason for paying £40 for a kettle. Especially one that only lasted 6 months.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

How can you tell at the time of purchase whether a kettle will last one month or ten years?

Yes thanks Phil - this really helps. I have packaged it up with the receipt and shall take it back to a store as soon as possible.

I very much appreciate your reply and help.

    Hi Sally,

    Have you de-scaled the kettle?

I had problems a couple of years ago with a kettle with a hidden element which started leaking when it was only a few months old, although I had descaled it a couple of times the shop told me that the leak was because of a build up of scale around the element, which I couldn't see!

I now use a much better scale remover, which the shop recomended, called Killrock, and we've not had any more problems.

By the way the shop did exchange the kettle that was leaking.
