Oil Fired Central Heating - Is servicing a legal requirement for landlords?

Hi, I know the landlord of a rented property has to provide a gas safety certificate and have the boiler serviced annually, but does anything similar apply for oil fired central heating? We don't have gas appliances but there's still a carbon monoxide risk from the oil fired boiler from some of the info I've read. I can't seem to find a definitive answer!

A LL has to have all gas appliances provided by him checked annually, and the check may include a "service"
OP - contact oftec.org.uk for advice on oil CH . Oil-fired appliances should be serviced periodically in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, under BS 5410 Part 1. Any LL who didn’t get an annual check completed by a Registered Technician would struggle to show that they had observed “due diligence”, and many LL insurance policies would insist on it.0 -
Not sure about the legal position but from my experience with oil central heating it's a huge false economy not to have the boiler serviced annually. IME however good quality the boiler you have is it will break down roughly every 366 days and fixing it will always cost more than a service.
Yes, I think there is a carbon monoxide risk with oil just like with gas. As I said, I don't know if the same regs apply to LLs but they should. Get it serviced every year.0 -

A landlord has to provide a Landlord Gas Safety Certificate annualy. A LGSC does NOT include servicing - some new amateur landlords think it does....
There is no legal compulsion for servicing... However it makes sense to have some servicing.
i dont get any of my boilers serviced annually... but the older ones get serviced more frequently than the newer ones.0 -
