Urgent advice re letter from payday loan company

Hi, i am currently trying to arrange a repayment schedule with Quickquid and have been emailing back and forth since the end of October with no luck.

I received through the post today, a letter with Quickquid's name on the outside, with my name and address and the words, "second demand for repayment of loan" clearly visable to anyone who sees the letter

I know i am in the wrong in defaulting with them but i have family staying with me at the moment and my Husband doesn't know about the QQ loan. Also, the postman is my Friends Husband so most of our social circle will now know i owe Quickquid money

Is there anyway i can ask QQ to correspond by email only ?

Thanks

support@quickquid.co.uk is supposed to be their contact email adress however they are unlikely to agree a repayment plan and will probably pass the case on to Mackenzie Hall who WILL gladly agree a plan.

Hi, i've been emailing back and forth for a while now, at the last count, it was 73 emails !

I offered to pay over 5 months, they wanted 4 and i couldn't stretch to that so they refused to accept my payments.

Just had enough of them now.

Really annoyed about the letter though and i already have a complaint regarding QQ being looked at by the Financial Ombudsman Service so i'll let them know about this as in the OFT Guidelines it states

    Unfair Business Practices

    Physical/psychological harassment

    J. acting in a way likely to be publicly embarrassing to the debtor either deliberately or through lack of care, for example, by not putting correspondence in a sealed envelope and putting it through a letterbox, thereby running the risk that it could be read by third parties.

Mmm. That's all very well, but it is not going to clear your debt with them is it?

How long is it since you defaulted on repayment? It will take about 2/3 months for them to pass the case on to Mac Hall.
  • Does anybody know who to send a general letter of complaint to about Payday loan companies? I think if enough of us voice our concerns to the authorities then something might get done.

I defaulted on the 30th October.

I've saved up the last two months payments that i offered and QQ have now placed my account on hold pending the F.O.S investigation so by the time the outcome is known, i'll hopefully have the full amount to pay them back anyway.

Hi Michael. I complained to the F.O.S and on the payday loan company websites it also suggests F.O.S

I've never seen (doubt I ever will) see any sensible advice encouraging people to use Payday loan companies.

Unfortunately the people who do use them simply won't listen to reason.. the want the money.. and want it NOW, at ANY apr, agreeing to ANY terms.. as long as they get the money.

Ridding the World of these companies will not stop the same mentality of people, they will still WANT the money.

Where would they go if you guys closed down all these companies??

Who will entertain loaning money to someone with a history of not paying ANY loans with defaults, CCJ's etc littering their credit file??

Could you explain how you would satisfy these people desperate for money now!??

These people are desperate so will take what is available to them, which is never the best option. If these services are not available because they are illigal the consumer will be forced to take a better course of action. I.e. proper debt managment and advice from the right places.

Also I see it is not right or fair to have these companies make massive ammounts of profit out of the poor.

    Completely disagree.

I note from your previous posts you are in this position.
You are not happy with the treatment you are receiving from these companies and feel aggrieved at their methods.

Cast your mind back to the time you were desperately applying for your loans.

If these companies weren't around, are you HONESTLY trying to say you would have sought advice about your debt??

It simply wouldn't happen, I'm not saying you personally, but so many people feel the absolutely MUST HAVE the cash. Even though these companies are quite transparent advertising their interest rates and penalty clauses.

People simply don't read them and just want to sign the dotted line, grab the cash and spend it. Months later posting on here about the ill treatment and persecution they are suffering because the loan company keep asking for the repayments.

I'm not trying to defend them but I do see how they have a valid purpose. I just hope I never end up in the position of needing to use their services.

Also I see it is not right or fair to have these companies make massive ammounts of profit out of the poor.

It's the way the World turns.

Are you suggesting the people who always make all their repayments should pay more for the privilege than those who (for whatever reason) stop repaying their loans??

These companies charge a higher apr because most (if not all) the people who apply are likely to stop repaying at some point.

If I was a shopkeeper on a nice estate and made 100% profit, I would kep my prices the same, maybe even reduce them.

If my shop was in a dump and I lost most of my stock though shoplifting, I would raise my prices to cater for the loss caused by those who won't pay.
