Quite agree - I can never understand the stupid mentality of some of our "neighbours". I always support any of our home nations whenever and whatever they are playing (unless they are playing England of course!). Are they still moaning about Culloden!
Having said that, lived in Bonnie Scotland for 11 years and (nearly) all the local people I came into contact were warm and friendly - it's just a brainless few who give the rest a bad name (same for some English I admit).
Come on less pretend we are all British and on the SAME side for once :beer:0 -

I dont see any difference with this than with the London clubs. My OH is a Tottenham fan and he'll support anyone playing against Arsenal, even Man U!!
It's not hatred, it's friendly banter that happens all the time between people of different nationalities, and being a pair of Poms living in Australia you soon get used to it!0 -
I hate foootball! Always have & always will so WHY do people think I would want to watch it just because its England 'our national team'! It would be nice for all the loyal supporters if they did but DONT expect me to 'watch it! wear red & white or suddenly develope a passion for something I dislike!! I have as much interest in it as Martin does music! GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

I think describing it as anti-English "hatred" is a bit strong. Personally I'd love to see England go out tomorrow but before you fly off the handle let me point out why. As a Northern Ireland fan I'm always going to support my own country first, no matter what, unfortunately we're not there so that's not a factor. However, as a football fan I want to watch the World Cup for what it is, the WORLD cup. So I want to be able to enjoy every match I watch, with some analysis of the actual game rather than everything but the actual match being all about England. I don't want umpteen references to 1966 throughout the commentary (I don't care that Ghana's national anthem was written in 1966!) or how such-and-such compares to Wayne Rooney. If it wasn't for all that I'd actually support England, but it seems to be that it's only when they go out I can actually enjoy the matches they don't feature in.
One other point is how when qualifiers/ friendly matches are on the news we get to see England's goals but often the other home nation results aren't reported. Even more annoying when we get to hear how England, Wales, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland have done but Northern Ireland is omitted, I mean, who pays the license fee!!0 -
As much as I hope they win, I wouldnt pay to see them, all our money is spoken for and if we did have the extra cash I rather take kids some where special.
Come on England0 -
