Hi.. I've just taken possession of a nice little NC10 and I'm doing my best to set it up. I was doing quite well until somehow I managed to turn on something that switches the keys to the little blue symbols (my keyboard is white not sure what colour on others), so I'm typing * instead of P, etc.
My second problem is that I'm trying to connect with my router but dont know what my WEP number is (or at least I'm not sure if it's one on the base of the router). Once I've solved the first problem I can then have a go at this one!
Thanks for the help (in advance).

Is this Num Lock?
I can't replicate this on my Dell laptop - but suspect it's connected with Num Lock.
On mine it's next to F12 - and I get a little light to show it's set0 -

Ah good - on mine it was F11, so I've now got the number lock off. First problem solved....
now the WEP key number - help gratefully received. I'm just logging on to Netgear website to see if that's any help. Apparently I don't exist in their system, so that's not working very well!somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -

if it was ISP supplied then it should be printed on the base of the router/in the documentation that came with it, otherwise https://www.routerlogin.com > wireless settings and it should be in there
you should really be using WPA-PSK (or WPA2-PSK if all devices support it) as wep can be hacked in minutes.0 -

Its a new router and I don't even know if I have a WEP number! My son set it up and hasn't written anything down. I've tried the numbers from the bottom of the router and they don't work.
the routerlogin link asked for a user name and password and now has annoying pop ups that I can't close!
I'm trying to logon to netgear website still and may have to go through their technical support.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
the defaults are admin (username) and password (password), but i'm guessing he password might have been changed in which case you will need to get the details off your sonpandora205 wrote: »Its a new router and I don't even know if I have a WEP number! Tried that and it failed. My son says he can't remember setting a password!
Is there anything else I can try please?somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
did you get the router from the ISP (Sky, AOL etc)?
if you did, then sky set it as admin/sky and virgin media set it as admin/virgin i think0 -
solved!! tried every possible password we might have used and found one that worked! Whew - better make a note of it this time!
Thanks for the help... Let's hope I can do everything else I need to do on my own (but will keep posting if not!)somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
just a quick note - the password for the router admin pages (routerlogin.com) might be different from the one used to connect to the wifi network.
you can find/set the password to connect to the wifi network under wireless settings after logging into the router.0
