Under 18 Cheque Bouncing Charge

Hi

I have just received a letter from my bank informing me that they are going to charge £30 for a bounced cheque. As I'm under 18 (a student) is there any case for them no being able to make this charge. Although the cheque bouncing was down to an error on behalf it seems unreasonable to charge £30 for this mistake.

Thanks for any advice.

Don't write cheques for amounts you don't have cleared funds for.

I believe it's actually illegal in France. Wonder if they'll ever convince Brussels to make that a pan-European law?

Which bank is it? They HAVE to refund the charge so tell them that you are under 18 years of age and you have heard that the bank cannot charge you until you are 18 years of age. They will refund.
