Cheap Stocking ideas for Adults?

We're trying to have a "different" Christmas for various reasons. I've decided at the 11th hour that it would be nice to do mini stockings for the adults (man and woman both in 50's) and partner (20s).

I don't want to spend a fortune on the stockings, don't want it to be full of cheap gadgetry rubbish that won't be used again.

Maybe like a maximum of £10 per stocking... but what the heck to fill it with?

I thought so far:

*Mug

*Sweets

Any ideas folks?

ETA: Any ideas for where to get stockings on the cheap? I may well make them yet out of "recycled" goods to keep cost down!

sachets of flavoured hot chocolate, sachets of bath salts/face masks (for women), little tin of vaseline for lips, posh chocs (1 box divided amongst stockings), alcohol miniatures, mini toiletries (you can get them from boots/superdrug)

For the men, you can get useful things like:
    Nail clippers,
    Nail brush,
    Mini screwdriver,
    Shaving cream,
    Styptic pencil,
    Razors
Maybe a little puzzle or a minibook (the Little book of...)

    For the lady:
    lip balm,
    Travel size toiletries,
    Handy pack of cute/pretty tissues,
    Nail files,
    earings,
    gloves
  • Stocking usually have something traditional so a tangerine or nuts or whatever you use.
Something silly pound shops are great for little silly things like games or puzzles, festive pen,
    Useful stuff likes been said
And of course sweets and chocolate, maybe a chocolate santa, gold coins etc.
I think tenner said great, good luck

  • My OH and I always do each other a stocking and set a limit of £10. We used to have a rule that we have 1 hour on xmas eve to buy the contents and we have to get the silliest things we can find but now I work xmas eve so that went out the window.

So this year for OH's stocking of £10 I have brought:

    Cheapy Kung Fu type DVD
    Funny Socks
    Chocolate Coins
    Deodorant
    De Icer
A Metal Brain Teasers Set of min puzzle
    A Decision Makers Dice
    A Cappucino flavoured Thorntons bar
    A Scarf

    Hope these Ideas help

Sorry mines not serious but is cheap, polystyrene airplanes, my grown up lads get one every year, cost about 20p and they all love them. Worth 20p for just the one days fun. The first year my daughter was married her husband looked longingly he has admitted as my son played with his plane. What he didn't know was that there was one in his stocking also.

    good idea!!

I also came up with lottery ticket, bubblegum, 10p haribo sweets, making them a cd of their fave songs. I have a limit of £15 each (to include one game as well which took up about £5 of it). Its great fun seeing what I can get that isn't total tat for the other £10. Also got handkerchiefs and a bottle of mini wine and magners, notelets, kitchen jotter. Got a lot of it from M&S online, there are lots of codes. I got £39 of stuff for £19 (and the odd bit for myself LOL)
