Late delivery of internet bought goods..

Options
Hi
Firstly I know this is going to sound kind of petty and a bit cheap, but i ordered some food/wine from an online italian deli on 25th nov and it looks like they wont arrive until after xmas; a bit irritating as the stuff i was buying was going to be xmas pressies! I was wondering what action i can take against the company? Theyre a uk company and they guarantee a 10 day delivery in the t&c's. The total amount was also over £100 so I know i might be able to claim from my credit card company. However im a noob and not "complain-savvy" so any advice would be v welcome.

cheers
j

Have you ordered from the company before?

    Are they trustworthy?

If so simply phone them up and ask them to cancel your order and give you a refund.

If they are not send a recorded delivery letter to them politely asking them to cancel your order and ask for a refund.

If they don't then you can get nasty but be polite first.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
  • No not ordered from them before, and their phone goes to answerphone after 6 rings, but they did reply promptly to an email saying it would be delivered soon. However that was about a week ago. Also the website does come across as genuine, for what thats worth!

I was thinking of going for compensation first though...cheap of me i know but if they just threw in an extra salami for free id be happy!

I was thinking of sending an email along these lines..........

    Dear Sir/Madam

I placed an order with you on the 25th of Nov, it has yet to turn up. I draw your attention to your 10day delivery guarantee in your Terms and Conditions. Could you please give me a set delivery date for the items and also compensate me for the inconvenience this delay has caused. If you cannot give me either of these then Im afraid i will have to cancel my order and request a full refund from you.

    yours etc

Im sorry am such a noob at this, thanks for your patience!

remove all mention of compensation, it undermines the real complaint and they wont entertain your complaint. If they give you compo it will be as a gesture from them not because of a demand from you.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.
