I'm going to have to make a few trips to the shops as there are no delivery slots for any supermarket till the new year!!!! I don't even have a car :(

Sorry I'm one of those that bags the delivery slots as soon as they come online. I add just one or two things then log on a few days before and put in the shopping that I want/need. Only reason I'm going out in the next few days is to go to Lidl and buy the meat for Xmas dinner. I wont let anyone pick that for me.

I've done this for the past few years, and apart from last year when I logged on in early December and ordered Xmas dinner including a pork joint for my Uncle who later died on 9th December, I've never regretted it. I even put it in my diary to check when the Xmas slots come up.

I went to Tesco yesterday morning at 7am. It wasn't any busier than normal at that time. I got all my xmas day things eg veg, cream, pork pie etc that i couldn't get previously due to their sell by dates....so thats it for me this year.

Once I get home on Christmas Eve with my meat and fresh veg I don't go into a shop till after the new Year but I have most of my none perishables already and even some of the veg. We will be at the local butchers before 7am on Christmas Eve and home before 10am.

Yes yes yes!! I went shopping tonight and got most if not all of my food in for the Xmas days (I normally shop every day as I have to carry stuff back on buses) spent a small fortune as nothing was reduced! (additional reason why I shop each day) But have enough food in now not to worry about shopping on Xmas eve/day/boxing day! And the shop wasn't even crowded either- only two people infront of me in the queue at 8.30pm. Watch out people- think everyone is planning the abush shop at the same time in the next few days!
  • Great post i always loved to shop during christmas..................

I have my ASDA shopping coming tomorrow between 10-12 and I have to pick up the pre-ordered meat from the butcher at 9am. That's me done. I won't be going to the shops again in 2009!

As long as your ASDA delivery isn't cancelled due to snow.

I've got my Tesco one coming tomorrow 10-12 and I'm not holding out much hope.

My Tesco order for tonight has just been cancelled. The guy that rang said I could go to the store and collect my order but then added that a lot of stuff is likely to be out of stock. So guess i will go somewhere a bit closer to home.

can anyone recommend whether I should go food shopping tonight or tomorrow? Just wondering about if they will have much stock, not sure if they got their deliveries and how busy it will be?

I braved the snow and went to Marks at 7am this morning, the SA was apologising that they hadn't had their delivery due to the snow, but they had stocks of pretty much everything. there was only a couple of customers in there too. OH said was the easiest Xmas shop we've ever done!
