    I can’t remember the exact figures but they are something like a 5% reduction in voltage gives a 100% increase in lamp life.

    I guess dimmers also act like a soft start which would avoid the big current surge you get when you switch a cold lamp on.

    I paid around £10+ per fitting 3 years ago - now you should be able to get for around half that.

    I hope you paid that for a fully installed light, and not just for the light fitting itself ...

    Labour rates will depend on your location as it will vary throughout the country,
