Media player 11 errors

Hi I use Xp and media player 11 which keeps closing due to errors but can't sort it out, i have reinstalled it but no better

What are the errors you are getting, it could give a clue as to what is wrong.

I have no idea what is wrong now but have just tried to play a song and it has just shut down no error message just gone???

If it's a recent problem, have you tried a System Restore to return to a last-known good working state? Alternatives are Media Player Classic and the excellent VLC Media Player

Yes tried that
when i click on play it just closes

What of the suggested alternatives? Not to your liking;) What about removing WM11 (but be very careful as to how you go about this) and re-installing?

Have you installed any third party codec packs?

I had a similar sounding problem after upgrading my CPU - it messed with the DRM system. I was getting error messages though.

Thanks for all your advice been helpful. I have managed to roll back to wmp 9 but still having sound issues its distorted not sure what to do next?

You could try VLC Media Player.

Have tried this as well but still having sound issues, its all distorted through speakers and headphones, is it my soundcard or something else?
