Afternoon,
Silly question time, can someone tell me the different between, income, growth and capital funds.
Which is the best to invest in or a mix, I am jus starting to invest in the stock market. jus doin some homework before choosing a fund and risk level, am after a IFA, fund manager to do the work for me?
Had a look at HSBC website today, after a tip on this forum, they have a large range of funds to choose from, very confusing??
All-share index is a safe bet, but ain't really sure which types of funds would be best to invest in, looking at a long-term investment fund. Over 10-20 years.
Any advice out there please??

As per the recent similar post, personally, I don't think you can go wrong with a cheap index tracker fund as they are an uncomplicated way of getting into the stock market. Fidelity Moneybuild UK Index Tracker is good. Stock market is on the up so if you invest a lump sum now you may not gain much. Instead, set up a monthly direct debit to ride out any ups and downs.0

Sounds good,
Was looking at the FSTE 100 Index and the all-share, over the long term??
Jus need to find a provider?
Any suggestions apart from H&L0 -
Income = stocks which pay good dividends. Tend to be big companies such as BP
Growth = stocks that the manager thinks will go up in price.
Of course a single stock could be both, though it is unlikely.0 -
Is it a good idea, to find a fund which then covers both income and growth, I am looking around still? so just trying to narrow the options. get as much info as possible before parting with my money.;)0

Fidelity is an excellent company and recently I believe I saw one of their ads offering certain funds with no initial fee. The Share Centre are also offering funds with no initial fee - I assume you get extra units but not sure. I am one of their customers but only for shares. All my funds are with HL. They were very good recently when I made an error in the name of a fund I had chosen.0
