Broken Dishwasher... can I repair it?

Right, mother has gone out and brought a new dishwasher from where I work on my discount as the old one has failed - just before xmas!. I thought I have this and have a go at repairing it if I can (free Dishwasher then :D)

Its only 16-18 months old and its thrown up a A10 error. This is a Hotpoint FDW70 Dishwasher.

Looking around on the internet this is something to do with the water valves which is a common problem with this model?

Anyone else had this issue with hotpoint. and could I go back to the retailer and get them to sort it out on the SoG Act? As Hotpoint want about £100 in fees just to see it (has 5 years parts warranty though)

  • Mick, an 16 - 18 months old dishwasher should still be under warranty for such a part as a water valve (even if manufacturer states 1 year only) or put another way and as you correctly mention under the SoG Act the quality of an item should be equivalent to the price paid for it (that is without the jargon). Your machine should have lasted more that it has and manufacturer should be responsible for cost of labour AND part.
  • Hoping this is the case, mother says that when the machine is in use it fails to fill up with water (so its pointing into that direction) other sites suggest that there is no heat getting in?

I ain't going to be bullied with the warranty by paying the fee... gonna flex my muscles with the SoG act and get them to look at it for nowt.

Right off to look into the SoG now :D
