need a wireless thermostat for new heating system - any recommendations?

Pretty much as the title. We're having a new boiler fitted at the moment and the plumber/builder has asked whether we intended to keep the old thermostat - which we dont. He suggested getting a wireless one but apart from saying that Honeywell do good ones, just suggested I look online. Now he's primarily a builder and is working hard on our extension so I dont mind him not having/taking time to look into this.

However I would like some recommendations rather than just buying the first one that takes my fancy and thats where you come in. I'd be extremely grateful for any recommendations :)

Good afternoon: the OH uses the Honeywell CMT 927...not cheap but a quality product.

what a good idea , wouldnt mind retro fitting a wireless thermostat as the lounge is like an oven while the bedroom is like a fridge , be alright if i could move the thermostat around

I'd recommend the same, I have its predecessor and its great - much better than those I've seen installed on other's systems. The holiday mode (set the number of days you'll be away so the normal programme kicks back in on time for your arrival), party mode (overide for a certain number of hours) and rest day (apply usual Sunday programme today or tomorrow) are all very useful and I use them regularly. Also ensure you get the optimisation feature enabled, on mine it was disabled by default.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll have a look at pricing and availability of the Honeywell.

    Anyone got any alternative recommendations?
  • Tower wireless stats are less than fantastic. The new acl / drayton ones are ones to miss as well

If you are having a new boiler, see if the plumber can split the heating into 2 'zones', then you can have 2 thermostats, one for each zone.

I have 3 zones and digital thermostats in my house - Upstairs, Downstairs, and Underfloor in the kitchen. That way, each can be set at different temperatures.

You can also get programmable thermostats, that can set a different temperature at diifferent times of the day.

Not exactly what you meant by an alternative, but the Honeywell CMT 921 is cheaper.

Just bought one new of eblag for £46. It's the same as the 927 except it's a 1 day programmable instead of 7 day.

Basically if you want your boiler to be set the same each day then the 921 is all you need. If you set it differently depending on the day of the week, then go for the 927.
