is this actual readings? Have you changed suppliers during this time? Have you checked the meter number on the bill?0

Perhaps the meter has been read incorrectly, if you have a meter with 6 digits on the read and the 6th digit has been used then that explains it, as only the first 5 should be given (including all zeros). As it's increased by a factor of 10 this could be the problem.0

The actual reading was 19989 units used in a sith month period have ha d the meeter checked by sothern elec and they say its ok0

As previously asked, were any of the readings estimated?
What were the actual meter readings and associated dates?
Also, how long did it take to check the meter accuracy? How many units were used during that checking period?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Is it one of these dial meters where the dials go clockwise and anti-clockwise? It is very easy to misread these - you always read the lowest number next to the pointer
Reading a dial meter
If the pointer falls between two numbers, always read the lower number – in Fig A you would write down the number 4.
If the pointer is directly over a number always record it – in Fig B you would write down the number 5.
If the pointer on a dial falls between 9 and 0, reduce the reading already taken for the dial on the left by one – for example, if your original recorded 5, reduce this to 4.
Following these instructions, the correct meter reading for the dial in the diagram will be 44928.0 -
Is it maybe a catch up bill? Was your previous 6months bill very low and estimated? This may account for a hig bill this time?
£62 seems alot for a week! How many bedrooms do you have and how many people do you have living at the prop?0 -
Hi jonsurrey - Your 20,000 Kw in 6 months roughly equates to the total that would be used by 7 houses like yours - If you have gone through the checks given in previous posts, it appears that you either have a faulty meter or a wiring/appliance fault
I would advise that you turn off everything including phone chargers and the fridge, read the meter, take the family out for the day and read the meter when you get back - If it's moved it's likely you have a wiring/appliance fault and you should call in a local electrician who should be able to identify the problem circuit by metering the fuse board
Good Luck0
