Cheap jumpers are the worst. Bought some from Uniqlo and they fell apart pretty quickly. Ditto anything merino from Charles Tyrwhitt (though not all that cheap). The ones that cost two or three times as much tend to last ten times longer."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0

I bought a couple of fake Lacoste polo shirts in Bangkok in the early 90’s for next to nothing. No matter how many times I wear and wash them they just will not wear out.Anything fake with moving parts will last no time at all but for some reason these shirts last forever.0

First click on the 3 little lines top left.
Then click on quick links.
Then click on followed content.
Your list will appear, all spread out so you have to scroll quite a way to get to anything beyond the first 2.
Apparently the forum was changed partly to make it easier for mobile users.
(And will someone please get rid of the red circle which covers up whatever I write here)4 -

They were still selling loads of them when I was there earlier this year.0

Are you familiar with the Vimes theory on boots, by Terry Pratchett? Sam Vimes 'Boots' theory of socioeconomic unfairness (samvimesbootstheory.com)
My everyday boots cost me £250 10 years ago and are still in brilliant condition especially when cleaned and polished. I have worn them at least 99% of all the days I have owned them. Chippewa. The last time I looked they were priced at over £400 new and second-hand pairs were listed at more than I paid new.
Buy quality. Same with my jeans which only cost me £150 a pair.
I looked at that and thought. That's crazy. I'd never pay £150 for jeans. Four days later I find myself the owner of a pair of £120 trousers.
Our local church was having a charity fund-raising sale and I got a pair of jeans / casual trousers for £2 from a company called Meyer. I also gave a £5 donation. They look unworn, with the label still on. Came home, looked them up and they seem to be sold in country / outdoor shops and are £120.
I like my trousers to have a hook and a button. Cheap ones with just a hook, or just a button simply don't work. These have two buttons and a hook, button, then hook, then button, so an added layer of certainty that they will stay fastened.0 -
