Good heavens, I didn't think Pugs could get any more ugly - I was wrong. Mind you, I dread to think what Citroen would have made of that concept ;-)

They have come out with the Nemo!!!!

And I think Fiat have the Qubo!

They hit every branch on the ugly tree but should work for us - fingers crossed.

LOL - well, the Pug's definitely the better looking of the three. No surprise there, though ;-)

It looks a little bit better (or less worse) in silver or metallic blue but at an mpg of 64 (combined) or better- it begins to grow on you;)

Think I prefer the C3 Picasso.
    ...but thanks for telling us.

We don't need such a big figure in our NUMBER for car replacement do we? ;)

DH gives back the company car at the end of this month so we need a familly car that is economical and practical and will keep it as long as possible.

He had intended to just buy a stop gap cheap car till we sell house and move but decided to get a new economical (we hope) one instead.

To get back on topic, we worked out our number at £27,000 p.a. before tax and have three years before we qualify for State pension each .

Out of interest, are you on target to achieve this?

    Thanks!
How is that made up between Food ; Bills ; Car/Travel ; Hols/Leisure ; etc?

I am hoping that you have these figures....if you don't mind revealing them ;) .... it makes comparison interesting...especially as your NUMBER is close to ours!

    Fascinating thread!

I’ve run my expenditure through Martin’s budget planner. I have three numbers; minimum, “steady as she goes” and luxury. The minimum is where we (OH and I) don’t move from our current house and we run one 5 year old car replacing as necessary but does include a couple of cheap holidays a year, the middle number is my planned for number (on course to achieve this all being well), the top ‘luxury’ number as Gatser and gallygirl identified earlier would require a less cautious approach to spending than I am used to!

    Minimum needed £24708 .
Planned number £31668 = My ‘Number’.
    Luxurious retirement £52104.

    (note all after tax)

DH's final salary pension scheme should put us on target for this (we hope) and then in three years we both become OAPs which should add about £5000p.a. x 2 on top.

As DH works out a third of his salary disappears with NI, tax, company car tax and pension contributions of 15% then we should be able to manage with the final salary pension- fingers crossed.

With 4Dds there is always something to spend on ;)
