Hi
This is a bit of an odd one as Ive not posted on this board before but can I just say a big thank you to all those on this board that gave advice to the others, answered most of my questions through that so I didn't have to post, repeat and look like an idiot etc
I've just started an IVA with National debt helpline and I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't had such an bad experience with CCCS. I appreciate they do their best, we all do, but they are not for everyone and certainly not for me.
So a big thanks, I'll keep reading the boards and being a long time lurker but I'll pop in occasionally

The people on this board are fantstic - I honestly think that between us all - we can help most people, and without resorting to the nastyness that pops up sometimes !!!
Good luck with yours - and keep coming in - and you will be amazed how you will be able to help others too - givess you a lovely warm feeling when you know you can help !!
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
Hear hear! Down with all the nastiness

Well done Samace and, as Trudij says, do keep popping in with updates now and again. (but you shouldn't really say anything even slightly negative about the CCCS or someone will come along a snap your keyboard in two!)
Would you ask the wolves to look after the sheep?

Update on this:
I went with the National Debtline for this IVA and they have just sent me the proposal, duly signed by me
, and I've sent it back for the meeting in January.
I'm really looking forward to getting the letter saying 'Yippee- you can have an IVA'
So thanks to this board I'm soon going to be working toward getting rid of this debt.

Hi,
National Debtline 'recommended' me to McCambridge Duffy; I wouldn't have gone through them if I had to pay any fees up front. I had Churchwood Finance offer to do an IVA with me IF I paid £300 pound first. I don't see why I should pay fees so that's why I checked out McCambridge Duffy first before I agreed to going through them to help me
I wasn't aware CCCS had an option to recommend IVA's? I just thought they recommended DMP's? Learn something new everyday I suppose...

Hello,
I would just like to say I have also dealt with cccs and although they were a little helpfull they advised me to send a £1 postal order to all my creditors which cost me £25, not allot but it is when u dont have it. I was then contacted by churchwood finance and they r as we speak trying to get me to use them, I am so confused as what to do they r charging me £560 up front which obviously is allot of money especially as we dont have that kind of money!!! I have decided to tell them I dont want to work with them as they are so full on and I will look for alternatives.
This forum has been a lifeline for me and I prob couldnt of got through this without it so thanks everyone for your help and advice.
Many thanks.xxx0 -
Hi,
I would be interested to know how you get on as I have also been advised to use Mc cambridge. I have my phone call assesment tomorrow at 6.15pm. Good luck with yours!!! M0 -
I also would like to say thankyou to Charco in particular who helped answer my questions when the phones wouldn't stop ringing, Mercers were threatening me with doorstep collections and I didn't know which way to turn. Everyone was so helpful and I followed the advice, sent the letters keeping all companies updated, and eventually having started the ball rolling in June'09 the Iva was accepted November '09 and we feel alive again. We're not scared to answer the phone, our postman hardly delivers any mail now and I almost qualified to post and offer advice now ! 2010 has been a good start to the rest of our lives and we intend to stay debt free forever.0

Hello
Update to this: payments are now starting to be made regularly
I had a bit of a hiccup this week as I stuck my heels in and refused to get rid of my contract phone with orange (I have no home phone and that's my reasoning). However Orange panicked and saw "IVA" and blocked the phone. I have spent the best part of the past two days getting the phone unblocked and spoke to a lovely lady there today who said - " Oh, we block it as a pre-caution and then if you can provide proof that the phone account was not included in the SOA then we have no problems and let you stay on Pay Monthly with us regardless".
McCambridge Duffy have been nothing but helpful in sending over the information Orange wanted and yay!!! I have a phone again
So a lesson learnt that I couldn't find a thread on and I lived to tell the tale
Hope everyone's ok
