Car has a strong smell of petrol.
My car for the last couple of weeks has been smelling of petrol. The smell is very strong. I've checked underneath the car to make sure that petrol is not leaking. But everything seems to be okay.
I drive a Nissan Micra 2000 model. Has anyone else had this problem.
How much would it cost me roughly to get this sorted.
Thank you.

Make sure that the petrol fuel cap is correctly fitted, as I had this problem once.
Huge amount of smell of petrol, thought I had a leak or engine was running rich, found out the cap wasn't full on :T0 -
Also check your spark plug electrodes. If they are black then you are running rich and can sometimes smell it inside the car.0

Our Peugeot started to smell of petrol then we started to find pertol dripping down from the rear of the car. The petrol filler tube had corroded and was leaking. Worth checking.Nothing to see here, move along.0

It's petrol vapour that explodes. If I were you I'd get it sorted out quickly, to h*ll with the cost. I hope you don't smoke inside your car!0

If you can smell it it's not an engine issue, that all gets burnt.
Put paper under the car, tank and up to the engine, there will be drips.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Not all of it, some can go down the bores into the sump if you are running rich, some can just go straight out of the valves into the exhaust and you can smell it.Or hear it if it ignites in there.
Sometimes its even used to cool the in-cylinder temperatures but I doubt it would be in the fuel map of a micra.0 -
Could be a split injector or return pipe hose.0
