I've used the RAC for about 30 years. Never had any complaints.

If you collect Tesco Clubcard points, it should be free. £33 of Clubcard vouchers gets you the £130 Joint membership Roadside Assistance, Recovery to any address in the UK and Accident Care.

Just renewed mine with AutoAid for £37 (second year).

I can't comment on the service as I have not called them out last year but I am expecting it to be good. It was a recommendation here on MSE.

I was with the AA for many years but their renewal premiums were too high. I'm getting the same cover for less now.

    Hope this helps.

    we used this company http://www.firstcallmotorbreakdown.co.uk/

£42.00 for uk & home cover with no excess and upto 6 call outs per year.
  • If you fill up at Total, £30 every 2 weeks it comes with breakdown cover :)

Gotta use fuel anyway, so the real cost is the difference between their price and the cheapest. Using 2p a litre difference, you are looking at equivalent of 30p a week :)

for got to mention last year paid £75.00 for rac cover through asda

  • We have used Autoaid - downside is having to pay the Recovery Guy at the callout ....BUT, upside is that there is no hassle with claiming it back, and is quickly settled
