Avast on Windows 7 64 Bit

Just prepping a laptop for Christmas which comes with a 60 day trial of McAfee. It's not my favourite, and it's only a short trial, so was thinking of removing it and installing Avast.
The only thing is that the OS is Windows 7 64 Bit - The system requirements mention Windows 7, and I know that it was ok on 64 Bit XP, so I guess it should be fine, but just to check, has anyone used Avast on this, and is it ok

Works fine, as does avira.0

I don't know about 64 bit but Avast certainly caused problems on my laptop after changing (upgrading?) from Vista Home Premium 32 bit to "7" 32 bit.. It was very reluctant to shut down until Avast was removed and Avast control panel wouldn't open, needed three or more attempts before it did.
Now using Avira without any problem.0 -

Avast works fine on Win 7 64-bit, be sure to use the McAfee removal tool to get rid of all Mcafee traces.
only consider Avira as an alternative if they have fixed the problems they've been having with their update servers.... or there is also Microsoft Security Essentials.
Steer clear of AVG.0 -
