Clip in hair extensions... help!

Hi everyone,
I am thinking about getting some clip in extensions (fitted extensions are £300 a quarter isn't at all moneysaving!) but have no idea where to start.
I want something to thicken my hair, after a lot of stress it's been falling out in clumps and as I have a few parties coming up I'd like something to make it fuller and a little longer, maybe halfway down my back.
Are there any good online shops I can buy from? I would prefer eBay as they seem to be cheaper, but will have a look at other places too!
Thanks!

Glowgirl recommended a website that sells clip ins.
I got mine from Ebay and was very pleased with both quality and service. I did spend £50+ on them as opposed to some of the cheaper ones on there. Really look at feeback and check that customers hadn't noticed any shedding. Some of the hair extentions can look fab in the picture but can arrive looking a bit thin.
If in doubt Sallys sell clip ins and might give you advice on putting them in and getting the right colour.0 -
hello,
i swear by clip in extensions!! make sure u get human hair as then u can style it like u would ur own. i normallly pay £60 from a local shop for a full head, i dont no where u are but i was at a ,market recently and they had the same ones for £30!!
try foxyhairextensions.com also try sallys and capital hair and beauty. the jessica simposn ones look good too if u jus wanna clip in and go!
also i have just had the bonded extensions put it 4 a change,i had a friend do them BUT if u look on websites such as gumtree u find people needing models so can get it done cheaper....i found a lady on there who done some things on me and she was amazing so not necessarily a bad idea!!
hope u find them....o yeah and as 4 ebay just make sure the hair is human cos as i sed u can style it and if the colour doesnt match urs u can also dye it too....0 -
Thanks flippin for that link!
I think human hair is the way to go, I have no idea of the colour I'd need, I suppose I could dye it if needed. Is there any way to get a good idea of colour? Or is it purely guesswork?
Anything else to consider? I saw something about weight on one listing, what kind of weight is good for a 8 peice set?
Are there any eBay sellers you'd recommend? I've been looking at:

Just wondering, is the hair you have in great condition? I'd be wary of putting extra stress on hair, in the form of clip ins or traditional extentions, if not. Also, did the hair loss occur while you had traditional extentions? A friend of mine thought she had stress related alopecia...clumps of loss....it appears retrospectively it was caused by the extentions.0

I bought clip ins from the market in town, they aren't the same colour as my hair though, just makes it look like I have lowlights though, but didn't realise you could dye them so might do that!
I bought 4 clip ins, the wide ones, so I could do two rows on my head if that makes sense? But I only ever put in 2 clip in's as otherwise it feels to heavy, and I paid £30 for them.0 -
I dyed my extentions from blonde to red when I changed my own colour and they dyed really well, but not the same colour as my own hair. Although I was disappointed when I saw the colour they actually look really good, like I have two toned hair.
Also OP, I don't recommend extentions that are a lot longer than your hair at the moment as it becomes more difficult to make them look natural. So measure carefully before ordering online. Also you don't necessarily have to wear the full set (or for that matter order a full head). When I first got mine I clipped them all in and didn't like the look as it was too full and looked like I was wearing a wig. After spending sometime messing around with them I figure they looked much more natural using just a few lengths. It will take practice before you have the knack of making them look good. HTH0 -
Also if your hair has been falling out (mine had thinned out a lot at the top of my head, it's growing back now, I believe it was the contraceptive implant that was doing it) you may want to just put a few in at the base of your head (I put mine in very low as my hair is thin on the top and I don't want the clips showing through)
I find my clip in's can get very knotted once in the hair, does anyone else get this? Maybe I should wash them :rotfl:0 -

I've never had extensions before, I've left my hair quite natural and haven't dyed it in the past year. I used to dye it every few months from about 15-20 but I've stopped completely now. I've noticed my hair thinning as I've been under stress. It's not been falling out for the past two weeks which is why I think it'll be ok to wear some clip-ins. I won't be wearing them all the time.
buttonmoons - I'll have to see if my market will do them, as I'm not going to be wearing them all the time I don't mind if it's a shade or two darker, but dying them would be brilliant. If they're human hair can they be washed naturally?
flippin - good thought about getting them too long, I don't want them to look too obvious. If I wanted them to reach mid-way down my back how long would they need to be? Where would I measure from? (I'm so clueless! )
Thanks so much everyone!!Foreign politicians often zing stereotypical tunes, mayday, mayday, Venezuela, neck

Yeah they can be washed and styled like your own hair if you get human hair. Not sure about synthetic hair though.0

Regarding the length this website that glowgirl told us about gives you an idea of what to look for by looking at the picture of the model.

The thing is the length doesn't seem too long but you have to remember you will be clipping them in at different lengths. I measured mine from the top of my hair (doh - big mistake) they were like repunzel when they arrived and I had to cut them down. I have a jaw length bob and if I was to buy some extentions now I would buy the 10" ones. HTH0
