how easy is a crest transfer ?

I've got paper certificates for shares I own after a few years of company share schemes.
And I have recently started using Selftrade for share dealing, plus a self select ISA.
I would like to transfer in my existing shares, to my dealing account as I know I cannot put them into the ISA, and just wondered if anyone has done similar.
I'm expecting them to tell me to fill in a credt form and post it plus the share certificates, which will then show as part of my portfolio with them. Is that correct ?

I have never done this but why don't you have a look at the CREST site - they must have one I think. I have only transferred a unit trust holding from my name to someone else and that cost nothing of course.
Your final sentence sounds too easy but maybe it is right but I am sure there will be a charge. Can't you ask Selftrade?0 -
It's a doddle. Links should help. (nb see also the example on Shareviews 2nd page to help you to complete)

My message is as yet unanswered, which is what I expected, and why I thought I would try on here. Just about to check the links from Old Slaphead.Karma is a wonderful thing.0 -
Hello Jonny - only just seen your response. You could even try asking Hargreaves Lansdown or The Share Centre. I will have a quick look for you.0

Me again. I found this

You can transfer employee shares directly into your Lloyds TSB Share Dealing ISA within 90 days from the date your shares are allotted. As long as the shares can be settled through CREST, you can transfer any shares or depository receipts you receive into your ISA. This means that you won't have to pay capital gains tax on any profit made within the ISA when you sell the shares. Employee shares include: End QUOTE- Just realised that this is about transferring to an ISA
