Company alledgedly can challenge my credit cards - too good to be true?

I recently got a call from a company called Beneficial claims. They stated that they could challenge my credit cards if taken out before April 07.

They want a fee of £475, which they suggested I could take from a card for checking 3 card, Cheeky! Then a further legal fee which would be the diffence of 15% of my outstanding debts they say they can clear.
They say these CC companies have fatal flaws in them that makes the debt legally unenforcable.

Surely this is too good to be true as we would all would be doing it as it would be big news.

I politely told them i'd think about it. Apologies if this has already been discussed but i just joined today to ask advice.

They will magically part you from £475

Thats the service they offer :rotfl:

There are forms on here that you can use to find out if your cards etc are enforceable for free

If true, Martin Lewis would have a page up on this site stating what the laws are and how to get your money back.

It's a simple scam. You pay the fee and several months later they write back to apologise that none of your cards have these 'fatal flaws'.

You are then in the same position as were before. But a few hundred quid worse off.

If they call back, tell them in an assertive manner to remove your number from their system and not to call again.

On another note, if you have £475 lying around, why not just put that towards your debt?

To the OP - search the forum for '2007' - there are quite a few threads about it (also worth doing the same on the loans forum)

    Hi Steffy

These firms over promise, over charge and under deliver.
If you have certain types of debts that were taken out before April 2007 you may find that some of them are legally unenforceable (as in they can't take you to court to recover the debt). However if you take this route and stop paying your debts it can have implications for your credit rating.

Some people do use the process if they are already having debt problems and if they are already dealing with debt collectors not the credit card companies (sometimes it can help with negotiations with the DCAs in accepting low repayments or low settlement offers)

If you are still interested in challenging your credit agreements then the procedure is detailed here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...html?t=2060575
