Is it housing benefit or LHA (private rental) you have applied for and is it a new claim?0

It should be 14 days after you've submitted all requested documentation. If you've given them everything they've asked for and they've not paid you after 14 days, go to them and tell them that under Regulation 91, they have to pay you on account.0

It all depends on your claim, your Local Authority, when you moved in, how you are paid and how many other claims are pending based upon the current financial circumstances0

Hi just wanted to say that if the LA has a backlog, they usually work in date order. The regs say that they have to make an interim decision on a claim within 14 days. However, if they have what they need, they would pay your claim anyway. If working in a backlog, they work in date order usually or prioritise claims where possession proceedings have started.
If every claim could be determined in 14 days, the number of days for LA's to process new claims would be 14 days but it isn't!I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.
