Help! Stop the cats pooing in my shingles!!

I have had this problem for ages, but not on shingle on grass.I have decided to try one of those sonic deterrents. It sends an inaudible sound out to cats which we can't hear (you can hear a much lesser version if you press the test button) So far so good they haven't been near since I put it there, so it may be money well spent in the end. Besides it was costing me a fortune trying all the things that were suggested on this site in the past, which I have to say work for a while and then don't. My next option is a shotgun!!!If practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................
Why practice!:T0 -
Thanks for all your replies, much food for thought. The sonic deterent is probably my best bet. I'll also never buy a new build with a shingle area again. I'll insist that it is covered with grass or wood chip. Shingles do seem to be seen as the ultimate cat litter that isn't!
Cheers
