Hi All,
Think we all need to use our own judgement when applying for things and all (especially when new and/or inexperienced) need to be able to rely on fellow & more experienced MSE'ers to post helpful, sound & genuine advice (not sarcastic comments) when posts may not be how they seem to someone who has posted in good faith.
The board has been very, very, quiet recently and it takes some dedicated and enthusiastic people to keep it going by bothering to post anything - Devilchef has certainly shown this.
Okay, some posts are duplicates, duds, or may even be spam (and anyone who has bothered to post themselves will prob. have done this themselves) but if no-one showed any interest in finding posts the forum would die, a may be not even slow, but definate death!!!!!!
DevilChef has not been put off (so far) by negative instead of welcoming comments although many others would have wondered why they bothered and just quit.
What will finish us for sure, is putting anybody off posting for fear of sarcasm and reprimand when they are just doing their best in the spirit of things .. and not for themselves but to post for others!!!
Of course, others should give constructive help, and of course 'old hands' should still be bothering to find and post things themselves and not get complacent .. but this is not happening. People are 'shooting down' new members but not bothering to post freebies themselves.
Lets all get back into the spirit of things - does everbody who scours the board to get all the free stuff they can, posting sarcastic comments, pointing out duplicates and scams along the way, bother to post freebies themselves?
If they don't, lay off.
If they do - they understand the spirit, ethos, time & trouble so would surely just understand, thank and welcome & point out nicely when duplicates or 'dodgy sites' occur.
Do not think any MSE member should advocate/post/publicise ways round applying for, tricking or getting anything they are not entitled in accordance with legal framework or Terms & Conditions of any offer. Would remind everybody to search before posting but still, lets all recognise somebody genuinally trying to bring something to the board.0
