need sd /mmc card 4gb help needed please

hi bought a camera for dd xmas it says I need sd/mmc compatible can support up to 4gb .

I'm confuded can someone point me in the right direction of cheap card.

not sure but keep finding sdhc cards in searches will these be ok?
no mention in instructions

Usually, cards of 4gb and above are SDHC where hc means "high capacity".

It sounds as though your camera has a limit on card capacity of 4gb so pretty much any sd card of 4gb or below would be fine. But to be safe, make sure the card you buy is SD and not SDHC.
Sounds tchnical but don't worry - clear as day when you see the difference because the logo on the card is different.

there are a couple of 4gb sd cards which would probably be ok but they're difficult to find....unless you read on!!. Try amazon. I'd say they're expensive though....the cards, not amazon!!.

Best place for memory cards I've found is 7day shop.com Try here for a big selection of sd cards varying size and for only a few pounds.
I'd recommend sticking to the 2gb size going by your camera instructions because the 4gb sd card is quite expensive if it doesn't work. I bought 2 for my multi media player in the car (which is also limited to 4gb sd - no sdhc allowed) and the amazon cards work perfectly. I did get them cheaper though - around half the price so it's jumped quite a bit recently.

I've used 7dayshop loads of times. Good service and no problems with returns in my experience. You'll also probably struggle to find somewhere cheaper.

Can you link the model of camera for us please. Most cameras will support SDhc cards now but not all. The details on the camera will make it clearer what to suggest.

...might struggle with a non-SDHC 4GB card -mind you the toys'r'us link implies it takes 8GB and other similar model number (but not identical) Luminox cameras claim to take up to Class 6 8GB SDHC cards.... i might be tempted to try an 8GB card in it (can always DSR it if not compatible)

On another forum noticed Morrisons were doing SanDisk 4GB SD cards for a fiver, may be worth ringing

I would stick to the 2x 2gb card option, as the formatting is different between FAT and FAT32 cards above 2gb

@nomoneytoday....When you insert a blank card the camera normally has an option to format the card for whichever file system it requires so using a 4Gb card is OK. The main thing is to ensure the supplier is reliable whether it be Morrisons or an Ebay supplier with a good transaction record .
