  • What you will need is a router. You can pick one up pretty cheap. A 4 way router will probably be ok if all you have is the xbox and the pc :)
    Comping again
  • You may find that if you contact Virgin they'll send you out a new router/modem. Try them first.

    Three choices.

Cheapest is an 8 port switch. You connect one port to the modem and then connect everything else to the other ports. Downside is it isn't wireless.

Next up is a wireless router. It'll have 4 ports typically, a WAN port to connect to your cable modem and also a wireless connection. You'll need to have wifi adapters for anything that you want to connect wirelessly.

Finally is an all in one wireless cable modem router. Its as above but has a built in cable modem meaning you just plug the cable into it and it sorts it all out.

I agree with Computershack. I use a 4 port switch or hub. The upside is that it is not wireless and you can get them for around £6.00 ish

Nor can a Switch allocate/manage multiple IP addresses or handle NAT, so one won't solve the problem.

A router is what the OP needs, wireless or not. OP, contact Virgin Media and ask them to send you a Wireless Router and they'll either do so for free or for a small fee.

I have a Wireless access point, 2 360s and 2 PCs going through switches. No problems.
