Has Anyone Ever Heard Of Magnitudeevents.com? I think I've been scammed!

Options
Has anyone here at all ever had any dealings with magnitudeevents . com ? I bought my wife tickets from here on the 1st october 2009 for a peter andre gig in Ipswich in Feb 2010, it did say we'd receive our tickets 7 - 10 days before the event, so I just paid and waited, but today I thought I'd just google the company and found some disturbing bit and bobs on the net about them! It certainly looks like we've been ripped off! Does anyone know anything about them or if I stand any chance at all of getting my money back or my tickets?
Any advice or info would be great, good or bad!!!
Thanks

Only payment method is Bank Transfer :eek:

What on Earth made you go through with that??

Good luck (you're going to need it).

You have essentially given some random bloke in a pub your money and are expecting him to post you some tickets in February (what are the chances of that??)

  • I Know......It must have been a moment of madness!!! I just want others to know, so they don't get stung the same way. I don't even know what made me look them up the other day. I don't know why I didn't look them up before I bought the tickets.
I'm going to report it to natwest as well as that is who I bank with and who the account was with to send the transfer.

    Oh dear,

If i were you, get on to your bank, maybe cancel your card.

When websites set up a domain (name of website), they legally have to register there contact details with the WHOIS database so anybody can look this up and its what we on the forums use to help people like you, but in this case he's used a company called Domains by Proxy to register for him so his details are hidden. Doesn't scream with confidence to me

    That's the site, looks shady

And this is the WHOIS details

  • I have been on to my bank, they say there not anything they can do to get my money back as I instigated the transfer and it was quite a while ago, but they said they will investigate the fraudulent account, but would be unable to give me any updates or let me know of any outcome due to data protection, also they said they might already be investigating it but again couldn't comment due to data protection! They have suggested I report it to the police when my tickets don't turn up, looks like I've got to wait a couple of months!

Nothing wrong with jumping through the legal hoops (informing Police, Crime number etc.) but I wouldn't get stressed about it now. The money is most likely long gone. I would be very susrprised if you saw it again.

Take the hard lesson and move on (it was only Peter Andre anyway, doubt you missed out on much!!) :)
  • Sorry, looks like you've lost the money. The site looks shoddy and if you google magnitude events you get pages like this come up:

    http://www.safeconcerts.com/forum/threads.asp?forum_urn=124&t_urn=10484

I hope something can be done for you, all the best

  • Not really getting stressed! A little pee'd off (okay, maybe alot) that I could've been so daft! and never like someone to get one over on me, I think it's more my pride thats taken a beating! I agree, wouldn't be missing out on much, it's my wife that wants to go, certainly not me!!! Bought some more tickets now, but from a reputable site (I think!)

You could try contacting the Ipswich Regent. Although Peter Andre has sold out they sometimes have returns nearer the time of the concerts.

  • I also paid for tickets to see Micheal Buble on Sunday 9th May. As i had not recd the tickets 7 -10 days prior the event, i went online to find out why, to my horror, their website had been closed and i am left feeling stupid and £355 out of pocket. I bought the tickets as a treat for me and my husband, front row seats as well. This would have been our first ever concert.

I have called the bank and will register the issue after Sunday, as they say the tickets could still arrive (ha, ha). I also have a ref # from Sussex Police who have been investigating for a while. I cancelled my card today also in case there may have been any fraudulent activity, however i did pay for in back in November last year.

Lost total confidence in buying anything online now
