Hello everyone!
Does anyone know if you can go straight into being an Avon sales leader, or if you have to do the door-to-door catalogues straightaway?
Thanks

I'm an ex sales leader - gave up earlier this year - at that time you had to be a rep achieving the higher level of sales which is about £140 per campaign. The idea is to lead by example. I believe a further criteria for advanced and above is the be a Presidents Club rep achieving ales of £350 + per campaign.
Good luck with it. If you have plenty of time, determination and a thick skin there is no reason you won't do well. Look at Debbie Davies - £250k earnt last year!
I would advise you to find a team leader you feel you can work with. If you apply directly to Avon you will be directly under the area manager and they have targets to get so you may find yourself working against him/her. Area managers can have a high turnover too so at times you may not have anyone for support. I would go back to it again but would pick my own leader.

You can start both together if you wish, but you cannot just be a Sales Leader, you have to be a Rep too.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
You can start being a SL straight away, but as previously said - you also have to be a Rep too as you need to sell a certain amount to be able to earn from your teams sales. I would suggest though that you joined as a rep, and got the hang of that before becoming a SL - purely because as a SL you are training people to be good reps, and if they get stuck with anything they will ask you - so if you have no experience yourself you probably wouldn't know how to answer their questions! There are no targets at such, it is your own business so you do things at your own pace.
It is hard to explain the earnings levels - as it depends upon how much your own reps sell / whether you have any SL in your team.
But you need to have 5 reps placing an order in order to be able to earn off their sales. Once you have 5 reps, you get 3% for orders over £30, 4% for orders over £148, and 5% for orders over £350 - but bear in mind that you earn your percentage after the reps discount & VAT has been taken off.
You do get your own brochures cheaper - at the PC rate. And you don't get charged for them until 2 campaigns later.
While you are being trained in your first 2 campaigns as a SL, your SL will provide you with the brochures & sign up packs needed for anyone you sign up.
After that point, you buy them youself. You do get refunded for 40 brochures & one sign up pack per person who places a first order of over £78 - so if you end up with people who change their mind and don't order, you end up out of pocket.
I enjoy being a SL - but it isn't easy. You probably won't make any money for a while, as you will be paying for advertising, petrol etc etc to get those reps signed up. But - in the long term I can see the benefit which is why I am perserving with it!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
I've been considering joining Avon, and have a meeting coming up shortly with a Sales Leader. Should I contact different ones too? How do you know if you have a 'good' one. I'm sure they will all be very charming and the bad ones will be difficult to spot until it's too late.
Obviously if I take an instant dislike to the person I won't be signing up with them! Is it just gut instinct do you think?0 -
