With this one, you would have had to show the rust was there when you bought it, then you might have had a chance of refund. As the work was now repaired, showing this could have been difficult as all you had was the MOT fail for rust..... which on the balance of probabilities would mean the rust was there when you bought it.

You could have fought for a refund, but the seller has been reasonable, there's no need to give him £100, as said an Asda gift card, would be more than enough. It's easy to see why this garage was recommended to you, at the end of the day he tries to be honest with his customers.


I'd get someone to inspect the welding, to see if it is up to scratch and is going to hold, and make sure it is painted properly and then sealed with wax. Then as long as the engine is good, keep the car.

just remeber two rules when purchaseing a car that you like and are considering buying but before handing over deposit RAC INSPECTION/HPI CHECK most garages will welcome the rac inspection.
