I personally have always gone with a local firm as you can go to their offices should anything go awry. I don't think they work out that more expensive then online conveyancers. I assume you have used a conveyancer before as you are part-exing - is there any reason you can't use the same solicitor, its often easier as they may still have the paperwork on your own property.

    Good luck

We're buying a new build...an incentive from the builder was £500 toward legal fees if we went with their recommended solicitor for our purchase, which we did.

We had already instructed an online conveyancer to proceed with our sale, so we're dealing with 2 solicitors for the 2 parts of the sale/purchase.

I'm far more impressed with the online conveyancer...they return my calls if they can't answer them immediately, send documents first class so I get them ASAP, have an internet and text service so I know how things are progressing. The local solicitor has none of these...doesn't return my phone calls, didn't acknowledge a fax I sent before I'd even signed with them...there were things wrong in the contract and I wanted them clarified before I signed...I'd tried ringing them regarding the errors, but no one got back to me. The £500 toward costs is welcome as I would not have been happy paying their fees as their service is so poor.

Oh, and the local solictior is double the price of the online one ( I got a quote from the online solictor for a sale prior to the builders offer)

yes, thanks for that, I am impressed and persuaded by the use of quick communications (sms, e-mail etc) that online conveuancers seem geared towards using by their very nature
    two good quotes from

    conveyancing-warehouse and

    conveyancing marketing services (cms)

    anyone used these?

Have a search on these boards as people have all got good and bad experiences of online conveyancers...as no doubt you'll get with local solictors too.

We're using www.fidler.co.uk I noticed the other day someone else on here is using them too and is very happy with their service too.
