But you still need your CH on plus logs prices in my area have shot up because of demand its now £130

I live in a 3 bedroom semi through lounge, dining room and small kitchen. The burner is in dining room the dining room and kitchen and nice and warm but rest of the house certainly is not, hence CH on

The register plate only reflects a certain amount of heat back

Thats why you can get fans to disperse the heat because it simply does not go far

£110. would that still be cheaper than having your c/heating on all winter?
I suppose it depends on size of home etc, how well insulated you are as well. I would get the chimney lined and have a steel registery board so all that lovely heat bounces back into your room. Insulate the chimney liner too, and your find the logs burn for longer, when you get the air flow right its heaven.

If it's just wasting heat up an unused chimney you're worried about. Fill a carrier bag with some thing like a cushion, old clothes, rock wool and stuff it up the hole.

If you're really serious about wood burning, don't think about buying and installing as cheap. Go down that route and you'll be disapointed.

Being in a smoke control area means it could be quite costly to buy and run.

There's a lot to consider If you want to know if its Worth It? I've asked myself this question after running a wood burner for two years. I've now analysed and answered my Question, have a look at idostuff.co.uk

To be worth it you need a good supply of cheap, quality logs.

Think about insulation and draft proofing first if you want to save money.
