Hi, Jays. I do the same. I'm now treasurer of the football club, and am amazed at how many people give me a brand new envelope every month - even for a cheque!!

I don't really care about people what people think of this, I know I'm doing my bit to reduce waste and landfill. I quite like my reputation as being eccentric!

Gift bags circulate round our family quite happily! Also I have renovated others, like a beautiful quality bag my contact lenses came in one time - it was like a very expensive gift bag, but with the opticians name on. I cut out pictures from birthday cards & stuck them on. Voila - a brand new gift bag!

Have not managed to re-use wrapping paper, but do re-use the gift bags, and buy cheaper packs of bottle bags when I see them, ready for Xmas (usually in Asda).

doh why didnt i think of that :o thanks for the tip :)

i reuse any packaging eg jiffy bags / catalogue packaging etc for wrapping my ebay parcels :)

    also reuse gift bags

im going to attempt to make my own xmas paper this year from brown paper and get the kids to decorate with stampers / glitter etc :rotfl:
  • I find using a couple of sheets of The Sun work fine, gotta use more than one sheet for transparancy reasons. Ideally position page 3 over the central part of the gift. Humph well it worked well in my old houseshare with 4 other blokes ;)!

at a christening i gave my friend the childrens prezzies in gift bag, another friend said "oh i bought one of those from Asda once" paused and then said "and i gave it to you" pointing at my friend, who had passed it to me and i had passed it back again. great minds ...

not sure on the status of the bag now but for identification purposes it had a large sunflower on!! Whose got it now??

My dad and his best friend used to send each other the same Christmas card for years on end when they were in their early 20s! :rotfl: It's now in a box somewhere in my mum's loft...

I reuse paper and gift bags for presents but when we get short I use the childrens paintings to wrap gifts. Also I will use paper bags that I get when buying stuff for wrapping. As DD gets older this has made her cring but have borrowed books from the library on enviromental stuff and she is coming round to my way of thinking, except on the clothes front:rotfl:

We did this when my children were younger. Potato printing is good. We also had some sponge Christmas shapes from Early Learning for printing with.

I find the paper from around bouquets make good wrapping paper. I reuse wrapping paper from presents quite regularly and I did wonder the other day quite seriously about using the pages from an old road atlas for the small person's birthday. Not because I'm too mean to buy him new paper but simply because he is map mad [another Asperger obsession] and would love it. Didn't get my act together though. My SIL got her children to potato stamp brown paper one Xmas...it was lovely!
