....... if not excuse me and I will go to the vent board.
I wish to buy a charm. £19.00, not a fortune, little stocking filler.
All was well, security code entered, then comes the dreaded extra Barclays security.
I don't remember, and why should I? Every damm site I wish to buy from want's me to register! Why? I always tick the no contact box anyhow, so no use to them.
What am I supposed to do with the dozens of passwords and usernames?
Remember them? Hum, some are Christmas only . Am I supposed to remember details from one Dec. to the next?
So I could enter all my user names and passwords in a little book. Great idea.
What?
If I were burgled, the thief could wipe out my bank account because I kept the keywords in one place?
Scary.
Tomorrow, instead of via internet, I will phone my order for the charm.
They will not ask for any added security. Strange how trusted one is on the phone, but treated as a thief on the internet.
Am I overwrought, or is shopping with a credit card more difficult that is needs to be?

.............and the OP would probably also 'combust' if the xmas internet shopping resulted in their bank account being cleared out.
The charge would be something like 'banks not doing enough to protect us from online shopping scams....."0 -
It is frustrating, but worth it. As PP said, it's one password once you've registered. Believe me, after finding yet ANOTHER fraudulent use on my debit card (paypal...surprise surprise) I am grateful for extra security.Watch out people. You don't know what lurks around the corner for you![/SIZE]0

I will move this to the Vent board, I would personally rather remember a couple of passwords than have some thief empty my bank account but each to their own!0

Sorry for the rant. yes have calmed down and I understand the need for security, as 21 yr old daughter's account was wiped out last week after she had shopped on the internet.
Lloyds are refunding her cash, but have persuaded her to take out "protection" at £6 + something a month, plus a credit card  in case she were to find herself in the same position again. (I had almost the same advice at her age and was in debt because of it for many years.)
If she did, she would turn to me, as I paid her shopping delivery due to the lack of card. I was pleased to, and no need for their overpriced protection or credit card.
Lloyds hunt her daily to take out this or overspend on that. She has resisted for two years but due to this, they managed to persuade her.
Of course she is an adult so may do whatever she wishes, however I wish to pass on some of the knowledge from here so maybe someone could suggest which threads she and me should visit for guidance?
One thing I've suggested as now she is earning, to visit an IFA, not listen to her bank.
As to the Charm I am seeking. I arranged to collect it. I drove a 40 mile round trip, and had quite a duel to a parking space.
They hadn't left it for collection, so now posting anyway.
Ah well, such is Christmas shopping, sent to try us whether online or in shops.0 -
