Hi there,
i have read somewhere on here that the deposit for a car can not be set against the ppi. I had an agreement with yes car credit and this is what they did. Instead of taking £100 off the car cost they put it against the ppi. Can someone please give me the info on this or where i can get the information from.
Thanks

Hello there
If you have been mis sold PPI, you did not want this or they added it anyway, there are many reasons then your entitled to make a reclaim on this with the interest.
Not actually sure on the deposit side of it though, hopefully someone will post up soon with knowledge of this actual matter of deposits being included or not.
For more info on reclaiming the PPI here:

Please ask for help if required, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

I am already claiming and have had my first letter rejected. I started by requesting SAR which they have not sent me all the information held and I am claiming on the grounds that I was told that if I didn't take the insurances then my application would be rejected. They have sent me a letter saying that because I signed that I understood the insurances were optional they are rejecting my claim. I had read on here that yes car were putting the deposit against the insurances which is illegal? This is what I am trying to find out?0 -
Right, hopefully Dunstonh will be along to advise on this matter.
But meanwhile, if that wasn't the final response and you have not done so yet, write to them again and tell them you do not agree with the decision, and ask them to reconsider, basically keep at them until they issue you with the final decision which should include if eligible details of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).
In regards of not receiving all expected with the SAR, again if you not done so yet, write to them by giving them 7-14 days max to provide these, and tell them you will otherwise contact the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) to complain to them on this matter.
https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx
These should be able to advise you.
Hope Dunstonh will be along or anyone that can give advice in regards of the deposit issue.
Good luck hun.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Have a look at this thread started by you and all the links to other sites for help are there. Too be honest you have a very valid argument though i am not sure what the updates version is.
If you are still paying for the car, by following the correct procedure i am 99% certain you will not have to pay penny more.
If you have paid the car off im thinking you will have a fight on your hands to recoup any money for the car but again a very valid one in recouping any ppi costs.
You are correct in saying that offsetting the deposit against the ppi is illegal and is also a complex matter.
The fight i had with helping my brother was to stop any more payments for the car and had the debt written off. Am i right in saying you are actually reclaiming PPI???
Read through this again and the main site to look at is https://www.carcreditcomplaints.co.uk
