Second Car Insurance

I am looking for a bit of advice on insurance?
We are just about to buy a convertible car mainly for summer use & we are going to keep our older car as well. My husband leases a car for company use & insures it private so we will need to insure the three cars. I have only just recently started to insure my own car so have zero no claims discount accrued only an introductory discount my insurers gave me so I htink for me to insure the car (a volvo c70 2.0ltr) would be quite pricey! I have received a quote this morning in my dh's name & it is almost £1000! I have asked them to see if they could swap over the no claims discount for the convertible to see how much this would come out at - has anyone else got any more advice as to how I could approach this & try & drive down the cost of the insurance please?

Thanks!

I think you will need to just keep phoning around. Make sure you give them the full details as they may offer 2nd car discounts.

I insure 2 cars and found the best deal by insuring with 2 different companies. The 2nd car was insured with 0% no claims but having another car with 9 years no claims meant they offered me a 50% off deal anyway.

  • hi, i have 2nd car insurance with direct line for my wife, she is a named driver on my 1st policy but hasn't any no claims bonus in her own name. When i phoned them up they told me that because my wife was on my 1st poilcy and had no accidents or claims that she could use my max no claims (65%) off her premium. Which made a great deal off difference saving over £400, i know that zurich also do discount on 2nd car insurance policy.
Also my 1st policy is with tsb so you don't even have to have it with direct line to quailfy for the discount.
