Black shadow across Sanyo LCD

Hi i have just connected my 1080p sanyo tv to my laptop and there is a black shadow across the screen approximately 4 inches wide. Its near the bottom of the screen 4 inches from the bottom, is this normal or is something wrong with it?

Probably just need to go into the display settings and set up the resolution and refresh rate.0
