XP: W Explorer: thumbnails but no filenames?

Running Windows XP, looking at folder contents using Windows Explorer.
Most of my folders of photos are set to thumbnails, and have the actual filename on display underneath.
But one folder seems to have changed to thumbnails with no filenames on show?
How did I do this, and how do I change it back !

Yes open the folder right click and Select view then > Thumbnails0

Try restoring defaults also in Folder View.0

I am viewing by thumbnails.
If I change to View > Details, obviously I see all the filenames. If I then change back to either View > Thumbnails or Filmstrip, in this one folder the filenames are not visible.
Have tried restoring defaults too, it made no difference.
It's as if I've got too many photos in the folder, and it's trying to fit more onto the screen by missing out the line of filenames?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Couple more things you could try, specific to that problem folder. Switch to 'use Windows classic folders' if not already doing so; untick 'do not cache thumbnails'; try copying the entire contents of that problem folder into a newly created folder.

Hold down the shift key while opening the folder

You learn something every day.
BTW it toggles - if you do shift-thumbnails details thumbnails then the filenames still don't show - you have to repeat shift-thumbnails to get them back. I'd lay money on you getting that one right - just one shift-thumbnails and they're gone till you do it again.0 -
Indeed, it's the first I've ever heard of it. Mind you, I never use thumbnails.kwikbreaks wrote: »You learn something every day.Stompa0 -
