Best card for travelling?

Hey everyone
A couple of mates are going travelling for a year in March, and I may be joining them. Definite destinations are Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Peru, Chile and Brazil. I was wondering if anyone had any advice/information about what are good options for travel debit cards (credit cards too maybe, debit cards maybe preferable) for these kinds of destinations, and basically worldwide travel, as I would like to visit other palces in the future. If it makes a difference, I'm 25.
Any help would go down a treat
Thanks in advance

i used my debit visa and electron card with no problems in vietnam thailand and china i would only take out what i needed for a few days. there was a small charge for taking the money out but nothing major. i never used my credit cardat all. i also made sure i had internet banking in case i lost one card then all i had to do was get to an internet bank and transfer the rest across. or called my daughter in london and got her to do it.0
