Decorating/Building Costs

Hi all,

just had an offer accepted on a house. Would like to do a bit of a refurb on it. Can anybody give me a estimate on how much all this would cost?

So basically, as well as painting and carpeting the whole house, i want to seperate the lounge and dining room (probably with a stud wall, gut the kitchen and put a new one in, and make the toliet and bathroom all one room and put a new suite in.

I would also want to move the combi boiler from the bedroom to the kitchen if possible

just a ball park figure would be great

The first thing I'd do is put a door into the toilet

People will probably be able to give you rough costs for the things that you'll need a tradesman to do, like moving a boiler.

For a lot of the rest of it it's how long is a piece of string.

Much of it depends on how much of the work you're prepared to do yourself. For example putting up a partition wall isn't particularly hard.

You could do the kitchen from as little a £1000 if you sourced and fitted the units yourself, but rising steeply for getting it fitted for you.

hehe....yep...missed those doors

I'm not very skilled at anything DIY related so was hoping tradesmen and fittes could do it all for me.
