Hi
Not void due to the situation, but the Insurers should be advised of the change in circumstances asap. This is that your friend is now the main driver.
I suspect the Insurers would want to give notice (usually 7 days) to cancel the policy and then your friend would need to arrange their own Insurance.
By not advising Insurers of the change in circumstances, your friend in denying the Insurers the relevant additional premium. Therefore in the event of a claim, they would be entitled to request payment for the extra that would be due.
My advice is for your friend to contact the Insurers asap, to avoid potential problems. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
