Apple Macbook Pro battery issue (again)

For those that dont know - Apple had massive problems with their batteries for the Macbook Pro a few years ago (I think the issue has been sorted with the most recent Macbook models).
I got my Macbook Pro in Nov 2007. I always used it via the power cable so didn't realise I had a problem with my battery until well after a year after purchase. Apple were helpful and sent me out a new battery (early 09 from memory).
Skipping forward, ive got the same problem again. Obviously I'll be phoning Apple on Monday although i'd expect that theyll be far less helpful this time.
Another issue that has arisen is that the laptop actually switches off (if its being powered by the battery) after a few minutes of being on. I believe this is some kind of automatic shut down when it gets too hot. Although this doesnt happen when in use with the power cord.
I was planning on updating to a new computer soon and obviously if this one is partly faulty its going to decrease its value.
So basically im wondering if I have any rights in this matter.

Maybe the reason your batteries aren't lasting much more than a year is because you're not looking after them properly. If you don't let your batteries fully charge and fully discharge because you constantly use mains power then you end up ruining them.0

Have you contacted Apple again yet? If its a recognised issue then you shouldnt have too many problems in sorting it. Apple seem to offer some of the best after sales care I've seen from any company.
Make an appointment with your local Genius Bar and find out what they say first!0 -

Yeah, tbh I do often forget to charge and drain them although its not a possibility now as it switches off automatically whenever the power cable isnt connected.
I haven't phoned them yet. Ill update this thread when I do.0 -
