Meter readings on switchover
When you switch from one supplier to another, who is meant to inform who about meter readings? I have switched from EOn to EDF and am having a bit of trouble.
I had a letter from EDF asking me to call them up with readings. I did this ages ago, and my gas account is now all set up properly, but my Electric one isn't sorted yet. EDF are saying they need EOn to contact them with readings, but EOn are saying that it is up to the new supplier to sort it out. My EOn account is all closed and settled, but the EDF electric account isn't set up yet, so I'm not paying for electricity.
Not impressed with EDF's "award winning" service so far...

quick answer - the new supplier provides the old supplier; i.e EDF ask you for reads or send someone round then pass to E.on; personally i would ring both with same read on same date, say to EDF this is my opening read and say to E.on this is my closing read; they will (eventually) both update to each other; when they both get same reads you won't pay twice. AND you are payinf for electric-you just haven't had the bill yet; E.on cant close your account until EDF take it, hence if E.on a/c IS closed, EDF have opened your account, they just haven't notified you yet; the new supplier dictates everything0 -

Hi jd87 :hello:
I agree with factoryworker, the gaining supplier should take readings from you or a meter reader to open your account from, they then send these to the losing supplier (in this case E.ON)
This means E.ON can produce your final bill to the same readings that your EDF account will start from.
Until the reads have been provided a final bill can't be produced.
I would also contact both suppliers to check what reads they have.
Hope this helps you.
