How long do you leave it before chasing for payment?

I have never been in this position before so not sure how long I should leave it before chasing payment.
I sold an item on Friday afternoon and the winning bid was put in with about 2 seconds to go. I haven't been paid as yet and was wondering how long people wait before chasing payment. It's not a massive problem if the buyer has changed his mind as i'll just re-list it again as long as ebay cancel the winning price commission for this one.
The buyer has 100% feedback but only has 2 things on it both of which are over the last couple of weeks.

I think buyers have up to 7 days to pay so I really wouldn't worry just yet, they may have gone away for the weekend!Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00

That's what I thought or they may have been at work and not have internet access at home or even used a sniper on it and not realised they've won it yet.
The reason I ask is one of my friends told me that I should have started chasing it after 24 hours so thought I would check with people who know what they're talking about instead
I wasn't 100% sure how long a buyer has to pay and couldn't find anything on Ebay although i'm sure I was just looking in the wrong places. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -
They may have set up a snipe for the auction and not logged in again over the weekend to pay - some people only have internet access at work.
I would normally send a message after 3 or 4 days - just say something like you understand that this a a very busy time of year for people and that they may have forgotten to pay, and that their item is ready to be sent as soon as they pay.
If you get no response just open a dispute for non payment (this can be done as soon as 4 days after auction end) and make sure to close it after 8th day to reclaim fees and give them a strike.0 -

It recently changed to 4 days before an unpaid item dispute can be opened. After another 4 days the claim can be closed.:j30/7/10:j

From ebay: the seller can file an "Unpaid Item reminder" seven days after the listing closes.
Day 1. Invoice.
Day 3. reminder invoice
Day 5. e-mail and reminder.
Day 7. Non paying bidder process0 -
