British Gas took my Elec. payment twice help

Hello people, Recently just paid my elec and gas bill online using their web-site and looked at a cashpoint statement and they have took £114 for my electricity bill twice:eek: Now I'm £114 short in my bank account.
They have already took £85 for my Gas and £114 for my Elec. But as I say another £114 just as well I had it, but I could always say I didn't and they have caused all sorts of problem.
I mean £313 instead of £199 out of my account that is terrible service. Rang my bank and they cannot do anything as it has already gone through the system and suggested I ring them on Monday!
What should I do. This is the first time I've used it to pay using my card and I have fallen victum of British Gas hopelessness. Obviously will not use and pay via online again as I have no trust in it.
Thanks

If you paid via credit card claim the money back from the card company, it's much quicker than waiting for BG billing to get things sorted.0

Spoke to my bank and they said it is in a pending system. Nothing they can do.
Spoke to british gas and they said they have requested and recieved all payments and their is nothing they can do even though they have made the mistake.
I now have to wait 5 days for it to drop out of the pending system and for it to go back into my account.
This is crazy, I'm stuck in limbo here.0 -
look on the bright side if your payment does not return you will have less to pay next billing0

Phone BG again and ask to speak to complaints, I'm fairly sure they can release the funds from "pending" back into your account if they want to.
I've had a similar thing happen with a hotel that took a deposit from my card, it was still "pending they day after I checked out of the hotel, a quick phonecall got the funds released.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
When paying online you need to be careful that having pressed the 'submit' button that if nothing happens for a fews seconds you don't press it again as this can trigger the transaction for a 2nd time. Not saying you did that but it can and does happen.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Hello.
Didn't press submit twice.
The funds are pending whatever that means. My bank cannot touch it and I'm waiting for BG to ring me back after 3 attempts! First time I have had a problem and cannot get any sence out of them. Bloody useless.
I want my damn money back!:mad:0 -
Thanks for your replys , people!.
Money now back into my account.0
