yes both old and new suppliers get reading. the opening and closing reading are usually the same..right?
its nothing bank breaking...£20 or so, but I would treat it the same had it been £2 or £2000.
just wondered had anyone else come across this revisionism 2 years later and is there a limit (if any) to how far rebilling can go back? What is to stop them coming back a third, fourth or Nth time? Seems an abuse of process as I am sure many many people wouldnt have a clue 24 months on.
i too agree-the amount is almost irrelevant, and would probably pursue; the reason i ask is that for most people £20 is 2-3 hours work; i'm not saying this is right, but it ill take you more than 3 hours to resolve, so at that level its not worth the effort.
That said, most energy (major utilities) companies will pursue; ive been bill adjusted 4 years backwards before (i knew i was wrongly billed, banked the difference, and paid up promptly, when Co. realised)a debt is a debt; either write identically to both companies stating the firsts closing billed read and the second's opening read (presumaby same date or 1 apart) and politely ask if paying twice for same period how this can be; ultimately a call to your current supplier, if you've got a unblemished payment record, may acheive a faster discretionary wiping; as for the long term, you have been billed since without concern and it will not reoccur (until possibly u change supplier again!)0
